Business Development Manager - Expedia - Tokyo
Job description
Expedia's Media Solutions Team in APAC is looking for an exceptional individual to define market strategy and help grow our media business in Japan and Korea. We're seeking an outstanding Business Development Manager (BDM) with a track record of success, preferably with online media and/or travel sales experience. The BDM will also support the optimization of Media Solutions related revenues and aim to meet individual revenue quotas for new business.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sales Strategy:
Drive and execute strategy for clients based in Japan and Korea to grow Media Solutions business. Responsible for identifying key businesses in the travel (hotel, air and tourist boards) and also non-travel sectors, and selling the benefits of partnering with Expedia, Hotels.com, AAG and the whole portfolio. This includes representing the advertising strategy of the partner in order to develop campaigns that meet their needs. Ability to work with guidance on complex deals that would require more customization and "out of the box" solutions.
Sales Negotiation:
Own and lead the advertising sales process end-to-end from identification of new prospects, to developing an understanding of client needs and mapping those needs with planning and strategic selling. The ability to navigate senior level management (across a portfolio of domestic and international partnerships), provide customers with a consultative sales experience and understand the political pressures of an organization to get to a positive decision is key to success.
Partner Launch/ Internal Stakeholder Management:
Oversee the launch and on-going, day-to-day performance of advertising partnerships and influence across other functions (including JP KR Trading Desks, Air Team, Lodging Partners Services Marketing, Operations, Billing, Product & Media Planners) to ensure successful campaign delivery and resolve issues as they arise.
Commercial Results/Performance:
Define and deliver continued improvement in revenue contribution to Media Solutions leveraged through insightful measurement and ROI analysis of new partnerships on an ongoing basis.

Requirements:
• University degree
• Demonstrated sales experience is essential, travel industry experience is desirable
• Multi-lingual (Japanese / English - Korean hugely advantageous )
• Excellent English (written and spoken)
• A proven track record of meeting revenue targets
• Demonstrated ability to effectively pitch and influence at senior management level
• Demonstrated ability to analyze clients' needs and identify creative solutions
• Demonstrated ability with to optimize revenue gains for Media Solutions through creative deals
• Demonstrated ability in consultative selling
• The ability to travel is required
