Director - Business Development - Qualcomm - Tokyo
Job description
Qualcomm Halo is a new wireless technology for charging electric vehicles, with the business run out of Qualcomm EID in London. Qualcomm is seeking a senior business development professional to develop its wireless charging technology business in South East Asia. This position will play a key role on the team by developing business with automotive OEM and Tier 1 customers across our key markets. The role will seek to introduce and promote Qualcomm Halo wireless EV charging technologies within our markets in Japan, Korea, and China and other parts of SE Asia, to OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers and the broader stakeholder market. More specifically the role will look to:
- Build relationships with OEMs and Tier 1s, along with key contacts and channels to influence customers and potential clients.
- Coordinate with and support other Qualcomm Halo teams in developing and achieving strategies, tactics and goals.
- Formulate and develop strategic plans and advise the direction of future support and co-operation with designated accounts.
- Provide timely feedback from OEMs/Tier 1s and monitor/provide/collect market and business information.
- Initiate and support OEM/Tier 1 related marketing activities through Qualcomm Halo marketing team, providing market and competitor intelligence and insight.
Responsibilities
Business Development & Account Management. Minimum of 15 years professional experience with roles spanning management consulting, business development, sales and product development; including extensive experience in the automotive industry technical sales, business development, account management and product management areas. Experience in automotive technology, products/ services industry covering OEMsand Tier 1s. Experience defining and closing new high revenue opportunities, negotiating commercial terms, and successfully bringing those opportunities to market is required. Strong leadership, negotiation, and team player skills. Excellent communication skills, with a broad understanding of business fundamentals required, including strengths in meeting objectives through influence, facilitation and team building.Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with key product stakeholders.Self-motivated, demonstrated capabilities to multi-task in a fast paced environment and provide leadership to a focused BD team. Demonstrate a passion for the low emission transportation ecosystem through understanding of key participants and underlying business models. Capacity to adapt to a fast-paced and evolving environment. Strategic planning expertise, the ability to manage change, and the desire to operate effectively within an aggressive organization. Excellent account management skills / ability to meet or exceed deadlines. An independent self-starter whotakes ownership and accountability for areas of direct responsibility.
Basic Qualifications
Evaluate broad market opportunities and strategies for new business.
Develop and execute new market and business opportunities.
Performs competitive analysis and follows technology trends.
Develop executive and operational level relationships with automotive and tier 1 companies, promoting Qualcomm Halo solutions and cultivating new opportunities.
Provide guidance and support BD team covering automotive accounts.
Develop key relationships and identify key decision makers influencing technical, commercial and legal decisions.
Manage and track daily BD activities and customer service initiatives.Coordinating with internal teams including product marketing, engineering, product management, finance and legal to prioritize requirements and drive new opportunities.
Assist in developing commercial proposals, messaging and execute on key opportunities.
Evangelize the advantages of Qualcomm Halo solution at the market and account level.
Track and analyze new opportunities including competitive details to insure ongoing competitive advantage and technology differentiation.
Champion the voice of the customer/market and opportunity throughout the product management organization.
This role will be responsible for BD/sales/customer account management for key automotive accounts.
Wake up each day and figure out how to keep the engineering team feeling like they are contributing to something that can change the world.
Fluent Japanese; Fluent English; Mandarin would be preferred.
