Technology Specialist - Azure Site Recovery - Microsoft - Tokyo


Job description
Disaster recovery is one of the fastest growing areas in cloud, and Microsoft is making investments to address this need. Microsoft recently acquired InMage, which enhances Azure Site Recovery (ASR) Hyper-V capabilities to also protect VMware, UNIX, and AIX environments. ASR offers major advancements in Backup (BU) and Disaster Recovery (DR) technology for Enterprises and Managed Service Providers (MSP’s). ASR will provide backup disaster recovery and archival data, and deliver seamless integration between on premise and cloud environments to help our customers embrace cloud by integrating their on premise investments with the cloud. This hybrid approach aligns to our Cloud OS vision.

If so, this is your chance to be part of a growing global team bringing Microsoft's disaster recovery solutions to market. The SMSG Incubation Sales team for Disaster Recovery is hiring a Technology Specialist (TSP) with a passion for customers and technology.

The TSP position for Disaster Recovery will be responsible to:
Provide pre-sales technical support and readiness for Azure Site Recovery
Work primarily with DR & StorSimple SSPs along with Datacenter TSP & SSPs to present our hybrid cloud and site-to-site solutions
Aid in architecting solutions in a complex sales environment and remove technical roadblocks
Demo solution and provide technical presentations
Identify key trends & drive necessary improvements in sales & product to capitalize on opportunities.
Work with partners in joint solution and integration with Azure Site Recovery technologies
Develop and maintain competitive analysis including white papers, solution briefs, application notes, and presentations

Requirements and Skills/Qualifications:
Strong understanding of cloud computing technologies (Azure), emerging trends and related technology including knowledge of competitors
Able to articulate pros & cons of design/architecture decision across a wide spectrum of factors - e.g. latency, storage, network, performance, etc
Able to coach and mentor a broad constituency - TSPs, Consultants, Partners, & Customers.
Able to distill widely variant feedback into root cause issues and provide actionable feedback to other stakeholders
Strong working knowledge of storage and backup architectures and topology (iSCSI, NAS & SAN)
Strong working knowledge of infrastructure, storage, replication and disaster recovery architectures and topology.
Strong understanding of synchronous and asynchronous replication technologies.
Experience working with databases such as MS SQL Server, SharePoint and Exchange, particularly as related to storage, backup and DR operations for these applications
Experience with Hyper-V, VMware, Windows 2008-2012, Linux is required.
Experience with Solaris, AIX highly valued.

Education & Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience is required as a Technical Sales/Technical Marketing engineer in the area of core datacenter technologies including business continuity/disaster recovery, with overall 10 years of experience in the high-tech industry.
A Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, complex technical projects.
Must have strong communication skills (written and verbal). Good public speaking skills are required.
