Head - Business Development - Amazon Japan - Tokyo

Overview:
Amazon Japan’s Corporate Planning and Development team is seeking an innovative, results-oriented, customer-centric team player. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Planning and Development, you will work closely with Amazon’s senior leadership and cross functional teams to secure and develop strategic partnerships with major companies that will accelerate the growth of Amazon in Japan. Opportunities will be categorized in mainly two areas: (1) areas that impact multiple business units, such as mobile, and (2) completely new areas where Amazon does not have presence in Japan. This position offers an unparalleled opportunity to leverage your understanding of the Internet, high-tech, and mobile industries inside one of the world’s leading technology companies to structure innovative and impactful partnerships.
Responsibilities:
Research and identify new opportunities for Amazon in Japan
Develop strategies to capitalize on those opportunities
Lead cross-functional projects to execute the strategies
Manage complex contract negotiations, working with senior executives inside and outside of Amazon
Particularly in mobile, develop and execute strategies for partnerships with carriers and OEMs to accelerate adoption of Amazon apps and other services
Prepare and give business reviews to the senior management team regarding progress and roadblocks
Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications:
Bachelor degree, MBA preferred
15+ years of work experience in business/corporate development in relevant industries such as mobile, high-tech, and Internet.
Demonstrated ability to close partnerships with large Japanese companies and to engage and influence C-level executives
Consistently exceeds key performance metrics
Strong presentation skills and the ability to articulate complex concepts to cross functional audiences
Ability to juggle multiple priorities and make things happen in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; strong bias for action
Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions
Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, schedule tradeoffs and opportunistic new ideas with technical employees
High levels of independence and flexibility
Superior verbal and written communications skills in English and Japanese
High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
Willingness to roll up your sleeves and do what is necessary
Comfort working with a broad range of technology tools including SharePoint, Excel, Access, and Word.
