Director - Listed Derivative Clearing Support - Morgan Stanley - Tokyo


Job description
Listed Derivative Operations support both Morgan Stanley clients and proprietary traders during the trade life cycle on all exchange listed derivative markets (EU, US and Japan). The group is diverse and includes teams dedicated to clearing, reconciliation, client services, commodities and deliveries.

The Clearing team is responsible for the trade matching of all client and propriety business and clients (i.e. Agency). The team is also responsible for tradedate position exchange reconciliations, allocations and monitoring of traders risk.

The Clearing team consists of 3 team members covering varuiys Listed Derivative markets. The successful candidate will have no direct reports but will report into the Clearing Supervisor who in turn reports to the Team Manager.

This is a demanding and challenging role. The successful candidates key deliverables will include:-
Tradedate client and propriety trade flow:
- Primarily responsible for the completion of daily trade processing tasks, working as part of a team.
- Ensure that all exchange trades are tied back to client/propriety references using in-house MS systems and that all client trades are resolved and allocated correctly by market close deadline.

- Confidently interact with the various clients and traders whom we support, notifying them of trading errors, exchange mismatches and ensuring that all internal trades are booked and all exchange trades are cleared correctly.
- Interact with, client groups, trading desk, sales desk, external brokers, 3rd party brokers and the Japan xchanges when required.
- Individuals will be required to work under pressure and to strict deadlines in order to meet targets during times of high volumes.

Propriety trade flow management:
- Ensure that all propriety trades are allocated and matched against the traders Risk book.
- Liaise with traders and trading assistants to resolve errors or discrepancies.
- Resolve all historic issues relating to propriety trades.

Morgan Stanley to Exchange Reconciliation:
- Reconcile Morgan Stanley books against Japan echanges for both client and propriety flow.
- Resolve any trade date breaks.
- Communicate all breaks to the relevant groups.

Ad Hoc Queries
- Deal with a high volume of email and telephone queries from traders, Listed CSG and other teams within Listed Derivatives

Qualifications
The successful candidate should be a confident well-rounded methodical person with strong analytical skills

Attention to detail and accuracy is essential ( Responsible dealing with high profile client business)

Strong communication skills both oral and written are essential as the successful candidate will be required to interact with the trading desk, global client groups and external brokers.

Self-motivated and ability to work consistently and efficiently to achieve end goals (The successful candidate although working within a team the desk is their own to run)

Proficient with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, - experience of spreadsheets, formulae and pivot tables.

The ability to prioritize workload in a highly pressured environment is essential as is the ability to build capacity and scale within the rapidly increasing business.

Ability to work in a constantly changing environment.

Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. Self-motivated and ability to identify and solve ambiguous problems.
