Director - Visa - Tokyo


Job description
POSITION SUMMARY (TOKYO BASED)
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing product marketing strategies to build and grow Visa Debit by promoting debit card adoption and usage. A key focus would be to drive Visa Debit value within Debit issuing financial institutions by leveraging trade marketing mechanics and developing high impact and effective solutions, campaigns, and promotions to enhance the Visa Debit product value for clients, merchants and consumers. The person will be in charge of formulating product marketing strategy, developing mechanics and principles for Visa Debit activation, developing and executing trade promotional master plan/calendar based on a segmented perspective.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct special market research analysis and forecasts

• Understand and generate insights on consumer behavior

• Utilize industry, consumer purchasing behavior, retail banking trend analysis and customer knowledge to drive the marketing strategy and plan

• Create and execute channel-specific strategies and concepts to drive Debit usage and adoption



• Provide creative consumer centric solutions for bank clients to support increasing Visa Debit cardholders acquisition and card usage

• Establish in-store guidelines across various consumer segments

• Design and execute high impact Visa Debit campaigns

• Identify best-in-class merchant partners, negotiate and execute contracts with marketing requirements and budgets

• Manage third-party build relationship with banks and merchant partners for development of compelling co-operative programs - – including building a merchant offers / benefits platform for Debit cards

• Contribute to Visa Debit client specific marketing projects

• Create an easy to implement promotional toolkit

• Create innovative and high ROI promotion programs

− Design, coordinate and implement promotion strategies

− Evaluate market reactions to marketing programs and offers to ensure timely adjustment of marketing strategy and plans, and meet changing market conditions

• Facilitate bank client effectiveness to optimize effect of bank branch marketing solutions and campaigns

• Ensure strong product, sales and marketing alignment through cross-functional collaboration to improve execution (to ensure timely and on-budget completion)

Qualifications


PROFESSIONAL

• Suitable bachelor’s degree or equivalent

• 10 years within trade marketing, shopper marketing or in-store marketing combined with previous experience in sales or marketing

• Proven and successful track record of effective product or brand building within the trade marketing discipline in a large international company

• Knowledge of all aspects of marketing, including methods to measure effectiveness of trade marketing activities

• Strong analytical skills – ability to build business cases, manage performance tracking and monitor program ROI

• Must be detail oriented and organized

• Demonstrates time management skills

• Customer service oriented in order to service clients

• Fluent in both English and Japanese languages, spoken and written

BUSINESS

• Demonstrable critical thinking and practical analytic skills

• Strong presentation, communication and negotiation skills

• Ability to negotiate and execute third party / vendor agreements and contracts

• Confidence and ability to marketing concepts and negotiate with senior managers

• Collaborative interpersonal skills to work under cross functional team environment

• Client training skills, both in person and via telephone/video conference

• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks independently

• Self-motivated, with ability to lead and implement ideas in a collaborative and cross-functional working environment

• People management skills

• Some business travel may be required
