Director - Japan Online Advertisement - Amazon - Meguro
Job description
Overview and Responsibilities:
Amazon is continuing to build out its successful display advertising business, Amazon Media Group (AMG), across all its owned and operated properties in Japan. We are leveraging Amazon’s world-class personalization technologies to build highly relevant ads for our advertising partners and customers. As a key leader in this rapidly growing business, this person will build out a top performing team and drive significant revenue growth for the advertising business of Amazon.co.jp.
This leader will be responsible for driving the overall growth of the AMG business in Japan as well as leading the organization of AMG Japan.
He or she will simultaneously develop key large accounts and work in partnership with agencies and internal stakeholders representing the full suite of Amazon Advertising products.
Key Objectives
1) Build a high performance, input driven team
Attract, hire and retain top sales and digital media talent
Provide strong mentoring and coaching to direct reports and sales representatives
Elevate skill sets and develop bench strength in the organization
Determine short and long-range sales revenue plans per property, vertical, account, territory, and Sales AE; annual revenue budgets; tactical action plans
Create and implement sales programs and tools that increase performance by the sales staff
Develop relationships with key digital media and marketing executives in Japan
2) Grow revenue significantly in 2015
Develop account, and agency coverage strategy for Japanese market
Drive strategic relationships with Fortune 500 type clients. Build upon prior success in this area to continue to grow this opportunity.
Drive the sales management process as well as play a hands-on role in driving sales, generating leads and opening doors for the sales organization.
Partner with Amazon Retail and Online Ad Product teams on category and product development strategies
Lead the larger organization of Amazon Media Group Japan for success
3) Serve as Amazon’s Advertising Industry Ambassador
Utilize existing client and agency relationships to drive large, long-term deals with top brand advertisers
Represent Amazon at key industry conferences, trade magazines and other speaking events
Drive strategic meetings with senior executives to help set program direction and priorities
4) Drive product innovation through thorough understanding and representation of customer and industry trends/needs to ensure Amazon continues to provide a powerful and differentiated value proposition
Partner with product development to prioritize and build innovative new advertising products to provide a truly better and differentiated advertising business for our customers
Partner with internal retail teams to develop strategic relationships across top industry vertical segments including Consumer Packaged Goods, Consumer Electronics and Entertainment
Assess potential acquisition or partner targets to expand the program’s reach and scope
The ideal candidate is an experienced sales leader with a reputation for hiring and developing the best talent and for deep and broad relationships. The ideal candidate will have the respect of agencies, colleagues and large client leaders. He or she will have a track record of success at driving top sales results, partnering cross functionally, and representing client needs/perspectives to the product organization. This sales leader will be an exceptionally strong analytical thinker who likely hails from a leading online firm or technology-enabled organization. He or she will have a strong track record of developing and executing sales strategies, tactics, plans, processes, systems and programs. He or she will be known for accurate forecasting a combination of strong relationship building and analytical sales leadership skills.
The ideal candidate will have a strong reputation for building high performance sales teams with a demonstrated ability to sell the value of a media property rather than just the program/price. This sales leader will have a track record of closing large complex deals himself or herself but not taking them at the end stage from the rep or team. He or she is a strong coach and mentor for the sales organization. This sales leader will also be adept at managing a field organization and ensuring excellent communications with headquarters stakeholders. The successful candidate will also have a talent for responding effectively to market direction, customer needs and competitive positioning. He or she will thrive in past paced dynamic environments and have very strong communication and presentation skills.
Substantial sales and team management experience in a position of increasing responsibility with several years of sales experience in a technology enabled business or where sophisticated sales skills are required.
Has a reputation as strong leader, acquirer and developer of fast-growing sales teams. This leader will have a track record of building high performance teams.
Excellent communicator who is adept at leading dispersed teams and running a field sales organization while maintaining excellent communications with internal stakeholders.
Understand dynamics of advertising on a platform where the customer experience is paramount.
Sophisticated relationship skills required to close large, complex deals directly with senior client executives alone or as part of cross functional, ‘OneAmazon’ teams.
Exceptional management experience in developing and executing sales strategies, tactics, plans, processes, systems and programs.
Proven ability to anticipate and respond effectively to market direction, customer needs and major competitors’ positions.
Demonstrated ability to sell the value of a media property rather than just the program/price.
Forecasting includes budget, dates, probability to close and inventory estimates.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
