Vice President - Equity Operations - Morgan Stanley - Tokyo


Job description

This role will lead the Cash Equity Operations team in Tokyo. This Cash Equity Operations team includes the Client Processing team whom provides post trade execution support to the Tokyo clients trading in global equity markets for trade confirmation and settlement, and also the Trade Support team whom provides trade booking and risk reconciliation and control for the trading desks. The role is the primary interface with the Sales and Trading teams in our Institutional Equity Division in Japan and also has frequent interaction with key external clients and regulators and exchanges. As part of the global Equity Operations management team, this candidate has to partner closely with counterparts in US and Europe as well colleagues across Asia Pacific.

Key Responsibiilties :
- Lead the Equity Cash Client Processing team and Trade Support teams in post trade execution support including confirmations and trade settlement process for Japan clients and the trade booking and risk reconciliation and controls for the trading desks.
- Partner closely with Business Units in enhancing our client service level and support for new business development.
- Be the primary contact for internal infrastructure teams including legal and compliance teams, IT teams and operations risk and control teams, and also external regulators and exchanges.
- Drive the review of the control and processes in order to reduce operational and client risk.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and strive for delivery of commercial initiatives.
- Monitor and review regulatory reports production and submission and the controls in the process.
- Work with global counterparts in formulating strategy for Global Equity Cash Equity Operations for both commercial and control agenda and the execution of the global plans.
- Career development and people management for a team of 17.

Qualifications

Skills Required:
- 10 years experience in financial industry in Cash Equities operations roles
- Technical understanding of transaction lifecycle in Cash Equities and knowledge of regulatory policies & regulations.
- Fully bilingual in English and Japanese; writes and speaks clearly and concisely in order to communicate information effectively.
- Proven interpersonal skills and abilities to work extensively across global departments to build and maintain credibility and strong relationships with peers and managements.
- Effective team player who brings teams together and leads discussions in order to solve problems and meet business needs.
- Demonstrated leadership in setting strategy or commerciality, and able to guide and motivate the teams and also hold individual accountable for results.
- Delivery focused with the ability to meet tight deadlines, and able to thrive in high stress environment.
