The role: Head of SMB Sales and Operations, Japan
As Head of SMB Sales and Operations, you will run the SMB / SBS business in Japan. This role requires direct management over an experienced and highly qualified management team, as well as highly skilled individual contributors. You will report directly to the Managing Director of APAC SBS. The Japan SBS Director will be responsible for continuously developing and implementing a strategy for growth and success. This includes determining the success metrics and driving the team to meet stretch goals including customer satisfaction and revenue. You will also work cross functionally at all levels of management in this global organization to share and incorporate best practices, as well as to complete the feedback look from the ever expanding customer base to the company’s Product and Engineering teams. You should also be a seasoned strategy/operations professional with a strong interest in driving organizational initiatives at all levels: strategy shaping, team management and bottom-line execution.
Responsibilities:
Hire, train and develop world-class teams of service and customer-focused talent, worldwide, who, in turn, drive the cores of Google’s commercial offering; deliver key results across customer experience and business growth.
Develop team-based work flows, processes and communications that drive action on the part of other Google groups to serve customers.
Provide the leadership, decision-making frameworks, analytic guidance, and business judgment to structure and drive partner services, including recommendations for engineering investments and product development and evolution. This involves developing work plans, gathering and synthesizing relevant data, leading analyses, and developing final recommendations.
Clearly communicate findings from AdWords and AdSense operations initiatives to engineering teams, senior management and to the broader organization. This is a rapid feedback process, with detailed reviews with the product team every 2 weeks.
Act as customer-partner “owner” in terms of ideas and advocacy within Google; originate and champion data-driven innovation and game-changing ideas and initiative. Minimum Qualifications:
BA/BS degree. In lieu of degree, 4 years relevant work experience.
15 years of operations experience in the technology, Internet and/or media industries.
Direct or channel sales management experience, including proven success in building, growing and leading multiple teams. Preferred Qualifications:
MBA.
Experience with founding a company or companies and/or launching products and new businesses for a large company.
Ability to select, attract, motivate, retain, and develop leaders and team members. Able to accurately appraise the strengths and weaknesses of team members and build a strong, diverse team that complements each other to achieve outstanding results.
Ability to use benchmarks and performance metrics to track progress, while maintaining constant focus on bottom-line impact. This includes a history of having set stretch targets and moving teams forward to gain traction and deliver on them successfully, showcasing the ability to deliver results through people, but also engaging in a very hands-on way in a lean environment. Strong data analysis and synthesis skills.
Ability to effectively influence and communicate cross-functionally and with management at all levels.
A track record of managing 20 - 50 reports, and also strategic thinking and creative problem solving.
